Kissmas 2009 at Nanga Damai

Since 2 years ago, Christmas is another big day in my life. Not because of I like Christmas, but it's because JenJen's birthday fall on Christmas Eve.

JenJen requested to have a Special Celebration for her  birthday, she said she don't want to stay in Kuching and celebrate the same way like what we did.

May be because of normal celebration only involved eating and presents. It happened for years and it's bored for her XD

That's why this year I secretly booked a room in Nanga Damai where none of my friends ever heard of this place. I believe most of the Kuching people never heard of this place and I got no idea what's the reason.

This place is very small and operate as guest houses if compare to Santubong or Damai Resorts. It runs by a spouse who are Louise and Polycarp Teo Sebom. For more information, visits their website.

For the days we stayed there, we were very lucky to met Justin and Zoe who are temporarily running the place from December 09 to 8th of January 2010 on behalf of Louise and Polycarp.

I had emailed one month earlier to Justin and asked about the details of the rooms, JenJen's birthday dinner and Christmas event to ensure everything is ok. Of course I don't want to disappoint little princess, it's her birthday :)

Justin did not disappointing me. We are satisfy with his preparation and arrangement from the first day I entered the room till the last day I checked out.

JenJen ever said she want a room like this because it looks pretty.

A bed decorated with heart shape petals. A picture from Bali's hotel room.

I asked Justin whether they can decorate the bed like that or not. He said he will see what they can do.

When we arrived, Zoe greeted JenJen with a warm Happy Birthday. They always remembered. How sweet :)

Once we entered our room, Tada!

I surprised that Justin and Zoe really did it for us :) This is so touching.

Photobucket

Big heart shape with roses petal. It's beautiful isn't it?

Photobucket

JenJen *heart* the bed. Thanks Justin and Zoe for their preparation.*Touch*

On that night, they brought us to a secret place where there were only two of us, a silent, private and no interruption corner of a cabin. To enjoy our very own private candle lit dinner.

Photobucket

We never think that a candle lit dinner would be so romantic and so close to nature. It's the first time that JenJen said she loved nature. It's very cold and windy at that night.

We were surrounded by the darkness of forest but we can hear the sound of river flow and enjoy breeze of wind. It's very relaxing and calming. I love nature.

See how well did they prepared for the table.

Photobucket

JenJen *heart* the candle lit dinner specially prepared for her.

Photobucket

Furthermore, JenJen saw that Zoe brought this metal candle holder,

Photobucket

all the way down from a slanting staircase, just for our dinner. And it's very heavy @.@

Photobucket

The rainy days made the staircase very slippery and danger. Takut takut.

I told them that JenJen afraid of mosquitoes earlier.

Photobucket

Thus, they prepared the coils for us :) How sweet.

Luckily that night very windy and cold, no mosquitoes at all.

The appetizer is something that we never eat in Kuching. Salad and tomatoes stuffed with cheese.

Photobucket

JenJen don't like raw tomatoes but she did ate most of the tomatoes because she loved cheese.

Photobucket

Justin made this dish because I told him that JenJen love cheese.

The food that Justin cook are totally different compare to what I ate in my life.

Usually when we go for western restaurant, we only have mushroom soup with garlic bread as appetizer, chicken chop as main dish, and one scoop of ice cream or a tiny piece of cake as dessert. Every restaurant is the same.

But what Justin cook for us is totally different. It's the first time I know that western food are not necessary to be mushroom soup, chicken chop and ice cream. We were amazed how special and artistic that western food could be.

Photobucket

The main dish. Marianara Spaghetti.

Photobucket

Look at this Seafood Spaghetti (Marianara)! It's what we called SEAFOOD Spaghetti, full with big prawns and squids.

Photobucket

JenJen was surprised with the portion. Justin never kiam siap (Stingy) on his food. He told me that he jealous of our food because he did not made another serving for themselves XD

Photobucket

The Bolognese Spaghetti is AWESOME! It's the  best Bolognese Spaghetti I ever eat in my life. The portion is so HUGE and it's triple size of what I can eat at normal western restaurant out there.

Of course JenJen can't finish it. She only ate half of it.

In email, Justin wrote, "I think we can make your girlfriend something she will enjoy, what she doesn't eat I am sure that you can finish off ;-)"

Of course I will finish them off. I don't want to waste the food prepared by Justin's with his greatest efforts. End up I ate all my Bolognese spaghetti and the rest of the Seafood spaghetti. My tummy grow bigger and bigger.

I think I would never have the chance to eat the food that Justin cook because they're going back to Bangkok on January. Sob sob T.T

For the dessert, Justin described his dessert as:" We would look to serve it on a fruit puri base with cream hearts drawn in the garnished with fruits....in other words "pretty"."

And it is really pretty, with heart shape and  little vanilla dots around the plate. This is artistic isn't it?

Photobucket

They even put a candle on it and sang birthday song for JenJen. Sweet :)

Photobucket

JenJen loves the dessert. She said this is better than birthday cake. Huhuhu.

And that's all for the dinner.

On Christmas morning,

Photobucket

They gave us a christmas card.

Photobucket

And full tray of breakfast. @.@ So many variety of drinks @.@ Got milk, coffee, orange juice and yogurt.

Photobucket

For lunch, i really had no idea what is this. They called this soup.

Photobucket

And you can eat the soup with crunchy bread. Somehow it taste lke kuah of roti canai XD

Photobucket

The handsome on the right is Justin and the beauty beside her is Zoe.

Photobucket

This vacation is so special because there are no other local people except us. We have English, Australian, Danish, Italian here and we are the only Malaysian. They speak in different accent of English and somehow it took some times for me to understand what they speak @@

May be it's because my listening is so bad @@

Anyhow, we did joined their conversation but we did not speak much because of limitation of English XD

They have tiny pool over here.

Photobucket

The evening view.

Photobucket

While we're waiting for dinner, JenJen played with Bubbles.

Photobucket

Sky with Bubbles.

Photobucket

The dinner with foreign tourists. All of them really friendly. They seldom talked with us but they always gave us a big smile.

Photobucket

The portion of the dinner was made for Giant. I can't finish them but they were so good and special especially the baked potatoes. Justin told us he were exhausted preparing the dinner for straight 7 hours.

Photobucket

We have two friendly companion here. One is  Oscar.

Photobucket

And naughty Bingo.

Photobucket

The dessert. Almost same with the dessert on JenJen's birthday.

Photobucket

At the end of the dinner, they gathered there and talked about many many things. What we can do is listen the stories and smile. ROFL.

I did talked with an Italian... not with Italian and not with English, but with Mandarin. WTF???!!! How come got Italian know how to speak mandarin one? @.@

Anyhow, Justin is a great guy, he attempt to promote Kuching to other tourists. He introduced TopSpot Seafood Centre to them, told them to never miss the seafood there. He also told them to have a walk at Kuching Riverside because the lighting is pretty and it's one of the best among Asia.

Is it true? Kuching people seldom walk there because of various reasons but it's glad that tourists love it.

He also attempt to entertain us even I'm not a good English speaker. He shared his story in Kuching, his cooking and other stories in Bangkok. Such a nice guy :)

On the third day, we checked out around lunch time. Justin went out to Kuching and left Zoe at there. Too bad we can't take a full group photo.

JenJen took a pic with Zoe.

Photobucket

And I noticed that Zoe almost same height with JenJen. Two little cuties. XD

All what I can summarize for this Christmas is I never expected that they had done so much things that totally unexpected for us. This kissmas and birthday would not be so special if without them.

It's the first time that we felt so weird that somebody treat you so so so nice, then if we don't pay back them, we will feel very sorry.

JenJen and I decided to bought a gift for them before they go back to Bangkok, as a little appreciation for all the precious memories that they gave to us.

Photobucket

When I sent the gift to their place, unfortunately they were not there, too bad.

I don't have chance to take another pic of Justin and Zoe.

If got fate, next time sure can meet up somewhere again :)
